Campus to honor veterans, award new scholarships

SUNY Fredonia will hold its annual memorial service for U.S. veterans on Friday, Nov. 4. The ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the Cranston Marché in the University Commons. The event will provide a forum through which university and community members can gather to remember, honor and show their gratitude for the 23.4 million living men and women, and the generations before them, who fought to protect freedom and democracy through the many branches of the Armed Forces.

String concert features solo by student Lina Horwitz, concerto winner

A special highlight of this year's String Experience will include a performance by SUNY Fredonia concerto competition winner, Lina Horwitz. The free public concert is part of the annual String Experience workshop for high school string players, and will take place on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. A reception will follow. She is a violin performance major from Rochester, N.Y., and was a first place winner in the SUNY Fredonia Concerto Competition last spring.

Student composers featured in concert Oct. 18

The Fall Student Composers Concert, to be held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall, is the first of four Student Composers Concerts which Ethos New Music Society will hold this year. The concert will feature pieces from Scott Miller, Jared Yackiw, David Holton, Eric Iannucci, Buddy Griffith, and Daniel Knorr--who are all undergraduates; as well as graduate students Michael Lanci and Matt Ferandino
