“Holy Schnitzel,” a modern-day Jewish comedy written by Nicole King for her Women’s Studies senior capstone course, will be presented on Friday, April 26, at 9 p.m. at McEwen G26. The Performing Arts Company and Women’s Studies Program are assisting with the production, which is free and open to the public.
“The Diary of Anne Frank” will be presented in Marvel Theatre at Rockefeller Arts Center with six performances from April 12 to 20. It will be directed by Assistant Professor Jessica Hillman, who directed the sold-out Mainstage run of, “The Sound of Music,” in 2010.
On July 1, SUNY Fredonia will officially open its new College of Visual and Performing Arts, formally combining its world-renowned School of Music with its strong departments of Theatre and Dance, and Visual Arts and New Media, as well as the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center. Today, the university named Dr. Ralph J. Blasting as its founding dean.
Rockefeller Arts Center presents “Burma: Reflections on a Hidden Land.” This World Travel Series film will be screened on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in King Concert Hall. Filmmaker Sean Cassidy will personally present the work he created with Patricia Keith. In addition to highlighting the culture and the people of Burma (also known as Myanmar), the film also helps viewers better understand a sometimes troubling truth that reside beneath the surface of a tourist-ready veneer promoted by the country’s military regime.
