A new round of public ice skating classes will begin during the first week of October at Steele Hall Ice Arena. The first session, held on Sundays at 1 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., will begin Oct. 2. The Figure Skating Club will meet on Sundays, also beginning on Oct. 2, from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m.
United in competition, three Fredonia Blue Devil track and field members are now united in their classroom achievement. Brittany Feldman (Jamestown/Southwestern) and Laura Morrison (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) of the women's team, and Collin Mulcahy (Batavia/Batavia) of the men's team have received All-Academic awards from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Fredonia women's tennis team defeated over Oswego, 7-2, on Saturday at the Steele Hall Courts. In their longest played match of the season, the Blue Devils started the day with doubles wins at one and two.

Fredonia team captains for the 2016-17 seasons are senior Hunter Long (Lebanon, Tenn./Lebanon) and junior Jamie Young (Russell, Ohio/Gilmour Academy), it was announced by Head Coach Jeff Meredith.
Distance runners Collin Mulcahy and Kyle Collins each won a SUNYAC Championship on Saturday. Running in the 2016 SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Mulcahy was first to win his event in the 1,500-meter run (3:50.80), finishing just two seconds shy of breaking Nick Guarino's 2010 school record of 3:48.74. Collins then won the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 14:44.56.
Season-ending awards and presentations were made Sunday at the Fredonia Athletics Awards Gala in the Rosch Recital Hall. Athlete of the Year recipients were junior Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) of women's swimming and diving and junior Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) of men's swimming and diving. Rookie of the Year honors went to freshmen Jenna Einink (Mayville/Chautauqua Lake) of women's basketball and Bobby Polachek (Kingston, Pa.) of men's ice hockey.
Fredonia seniors Kyle Sherman (North Collins / North Collins) and Quinn Danahy (Buffalo/Bishop Timon) were named to the All-SUNYAC baseball team the conference office announced on Monday. Sherman was named First Team at shortstop and Danahy was named Second Team as an outfielder.
