Macaulay 2nd in NCAA D-III FG accuracy
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y.) is second in the country in field-goal accuracy, according to NCAA Division III women's basketball stats released Dec. 15. The senior forward has made 68.6 percent of her attempts - 48 of 70 - through the first eight games of 2015-16.
Ortiz leads Devils to sweep of D.W. Eagles
Fredonia completed its weekend sweep of Daniel Webster with a 6-1 win Saturday in men's hockey. Freshman winger Jimmy Morgan (Highlands Ranch, Calif.) and his linemates combined for nine points in the lopsided affair. The Blue Devils outshot the Eagles, 60-12.
Devils cruise to win over Alfred
The Fredonia women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 92-35 win over visiting Alfred State.The Devils were led by senior Sabrina Macaulay (Newark, N.Y./Newark) with 23 points. Freshman Sarah Sweazy (Rochester, N.Y./Rush Henrietta) netted a career-high 17 points and six rebounds.
Haines, Scott win RIT Early Season events
Fredonia had two firsts, three seconds, and one third at the RIT Early Season Invitational indoor track and field meet.
Hot Devils prove cool from the line
Some clutch free-throw shooting and a team effort enabled the Fredonia women's basketball team to slip past the Cortland Red Dragons, 75-71, on Saturday. The Devils improved to 5-1 overall and are off to a 2-0 start in conference play.
Santiago highlights his final invitational
In his final Blue Devil Invitational, senior Rafael Santiago (Middletown/ Middletown) closed out the three day event winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, just ahead of teammate and 2015 NCAA qualifier Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame).
DMR is first, Feldman sets 300 record
Fredonia senior Laura Morrison (Wethersfield, Conn.) finished third in the 3,000 meters and anchored the winning distance medley relay Saturday at the Greg Page Relays held at Cornell. Another member of the relay, sophomore Brittany Feldman (Jamestown), set a school record in an individual event.
Community Business Night promotion on Dec. 4 in Steele
Steele Hall will host a Community Business Night promotion on Friday, Dec. 4, in conjunction with the Blue Devil Swimming and Diving Invitational and inaugural State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) games of the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Relay teams provide final edge
Heading into the final event against Nazareth on Saturday, the men's swimming and diving team needed at least a first and third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay to clinch a win. They got it by less than a second.
Another day, another thrilling win
The Fredonia women's basketball team would be hard pressed to top Friday's closing-seconds victory over Grove City, but they did their best. On Saturday, the ladies claimed the Penn State Behrend Tip-Off Tournament title with a 70-68 overtime victory vs. Hiram.
