What We Do

The Fredonia Music Industry Club (MIC), a constituted group through the Student Association, is run and organized by students. MIC is a great way to gain hands-on experience in a wide range of skills such as event planning, marketing, booking, contracting, and much more! MIC complements the Music Industry program while maintaining the freedom that comes from being a student group. Members of MIC gain the opportunity to network with students in the Music Industry major, students from other departments of the university, and outside members of the community. Throughout the semester, the club organizes a number of events such as FredChella and the Battle of the New Bands, as well as a number of on-campus concerts and off-campus shows. These allow students to take charge and put the skills they learn to real-world use.

The Executive Board

The E-board is responsible for running MIC and all of its events. They pride themselves on providing opportunities and hands-on experience to students not only in the Music Industry, but other areas of study as well. Elections for one-year terms occur every Spring in May. The current e-board includes:

President: Jazmine Torres
Vice President: Hailey LaMacchia
Treasurer: Jaeryoung Lee
Secretary: Michelina Castelli
Marketing/Promotions Chair: Emma Christopher
Events Coordinator: Ahmani McCoy
SA Representative:  John Carrera

Student Testimonials

Charlotte Smith

I’m Charlotte Smith, a junior Music Industry Major at Fredonia. One of the most impactful courses I’ve taken is Music Marketing and Promotions. It sparked my passion for graphic design and branding, allowing me to help artists be heard by a larger audience. What I love most about the course is the creative freedom, students have the ability to work with their individual interests within the industry. It’s been a really fun and unique way to develop my skills and focus on what I love. This course is what eventually inspired me to join the Music Industry club’s promotion committee, where I’ve developed my skills even further.

Jazmine Torres

My name is Jazmine Torres and I am a Music Industry major who also works on the Music Industry Club E-Board. Since my Freshman year, I have utilized the Music Industry Club in a way where I can experience many parts of the music industry at once. Starting off in Promotions committee, I learned about graphic design and how social media is way more intricate than just a pretty picture. Moving along, I was able to become President of this club and experience all aspects of the industry such as live sound, merchandising, booking, A/R, and more. As a club, we have also given countless opportunities to upcoming artists. Battle of the New Bands hosts newly formed bands and have given many bands the opportunity to continue their music career within the Fredonia music scene. As someone who came into this major looking to make a difference in people's lives, this club has fulfilled that dream.
