Fall 2024 Audition Info
Ensemble auditions will take place as follows:
· Sunday, August 25 - violins, basses (starting at 5pm, basses will go pretty late)
· Monday, August 25 - 1-3pm, cellos
· Monday, August 25 – violas (starting at 5:20-ish, after studio class)
Repertoire from auditions will be selected from the fall semester programs. Start practicing and listening now! The more exposure you have to this music, the better you will understand and play it. We will send you a list of 6-10 excerpts from this music a week or two before auditions. You will be most successful if you have already practiced the concert music.
Note to violins: Any practice you put in on 1st or 2nd violin will benefit you in the long run. If the music looks difficult to you, it is fine to focus all of your attention on violin 2 parts. You will be asked to play a mix of 1st and 2nd violin for your audition, but your 2nd violin practice will pay off and you will be able to learn the higher parts more quickly.
