The SUNY Fredonia School of Music will present a violin master class featuring guest artist Harvey Thurmer on Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. in Rosch Recital Hall Thurmer will work with current string students, and interested community members are invited to observe
The SUNY Fredonia School of Music will present an oboe master class featuring guest artist Jared Hauser on Monday, March 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1002. Hauser will work with current oboe students, and interested community members are invited to observe.
Students from SUNY Fredonia’s Colleges Against Cancer club will be holding a spaghetti dinner for cancer survivors and anyone who has been affected by the disease. The dinner, to be held Wednesday, March 4, will celebrate those who have survived cancer and also raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at SUNY Fredonia will once again host its annual Pi Day event on Thursday, March 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Dods Hall. Pi Day has been celebrated around the world by math enthusiasts annually since 1998 and at SUNY Fredonia since 2002.
One of S.A.'s newest acknowledged groups, Collegians for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), is collecting used, unwanted laptops to be donated to Valle Verde, a small village in Mexico. The group will be collecting laptops until the second week of March. All laptop vintages are welcomed, as long as they are accompanied by their chargers
Virginia Horvath John Kijinski Vice President Virginia Horvath and Dean John Kijinski will talk about their roles in supporting faculty scholarship at the next Brown Bag Lecture on Wednesday, March 4, at noon in Room S104 of the Williams Center. Their own scholarship activities will also be part of the discussion. The series is sponsored by the College of Arts and Humanities.
Fredonia State enters the men's basketball tournament as hot as any of the eight teams. The Blue Devils have won their last three games, including victories over the top two seeds -- 82-62 at Buffalo State last Tuesday, and 64-59 over Geneseo on Friday. The team is coached by Kevin Moore.

The SUNY Fredonia International Education Center is hosting its inaugural 3K Fun Run on Sunday, March 1 at 11 a.m. on the Fredonia campus. Dubbed the “Slush Rush” because of the anticipation of snow still being on the ground, the race is being held in remembrance of alumna Xylia Peterson, ’85, and to benefit the scholarship in her name.
FSU Hockey Game “Pink the Rink” raises funds for Breast Cancer Awareness. Men's hockey vs. SUNY Morrisville in the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Admission: $5 ($2 for students, and free to students with Fredonia State IDs).
