Community and campus invited to learn more about how dogs help people heal on Nov. 3

The Nov. 3 session will focus on canine therapy topics and feature research on how dogs help with physical therapy of young children and with military veterans in various recovery scenarios. The keynote talk, "Canine-Assisted Interventions: Benefits and Cautions," starts at 11 a.m. and is free. The afternoon workshop, $12, is about volunteer and internship opportunities in canine-assisted programs.

Election parody, "American President," delivers timely relief

With the general election just days away, SUNY Fredonia’s student-run improve theatre troupe Random Acts will perform “American President,” a parody that combines the drama and intrigue of the 2012 presidential campaigns with the glitz and glamor of the popular “American Idol” television program. It will be presented Thursday, Nov. 1, at the 1891 Opera House and on Friday, Nov. 2, at the Williams Center on campus. Tickets are free for both performances which start at 8 p.m

Sabres' Broadcaster Kevin Sylvester returns as guest speaker

Kevin Sylvester, host of Sabres Hockey Hotline on WGR Radio (550 AM), will speak to campus and community members on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 5:30 p.m. in the Williams Center's Room 204E. The event is sponsored by the SUNY Fredonia chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Admission is free.

Fredonia for St. Jude to host "Up til Dawn" Nov. 4, fight pediatric cancer

The fifth annual Fredonia for St. Jude “Up ‘Til Dawn” event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. in Steele Hall. With the Hollywood theme, “Lights, Camera, Cure!” the night will feature live music, contests, raffles, and general entertainment while students work on a letter campaign to raise funds for a hospital that provides free cancer treatment to children.
