The exhibition, titled “The Fine Arts Senior Show,” will open with a reception in the art gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 3. The exhibition will highlight the best works by graduating Fine Arts students. Artists taking part in the exhibition are Jillian Berowski, Audrey Bialke, Dani Brooks, Tricia Butski, Lesley Cerniglia, Erica Kang, Christine McMullen, Sarah Peck, Lizzie Reid and Kimberly Zazzara.
Student Association groups Latinos Unidos and Hillel will host a Glow-in-the-Dark Bingo night on Tuesday, April 30, at 8 p.m., in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center.
The Women’s Student Union at SUNY Fredonia is hosting two events to conclude this academic year to raise awareness about ending violence against woman and practicing safe sex.
Students graduating with a major or minor in Women’s and Gender Studies will present summaries of their capstone research projects on Monday April, 29 at 4 p.m. in Williams Center Room S204D. Announced at the event will be the winner of the $450 Jeanette McVicker scholarship.
The student group Enactus, a group of academic and business leaders who want to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world, will host a scavenger hunt entitled “Find it in Fredonia” on Sunday, April 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the SUNY Fredonia campus.
The Office of Student Creative Activity and Research (OSCAR) will proudly welcome student exhibitors and presenters as it hosts its 15th annual Student Research and Creativity Exposition. expo now features a wider scope of research and creative work of students involved in science, visual art, dance, music, humanities, business, education and volunteer work. Approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students will be participating.
Over the weekend, SUNY Fredonia’s Relay for Life event raised over $30,000 for the American Cancer Society at the 12-hour walk-a-thon event held in Steele Hall on Saturday on the SUNY Fredonia campus. At the event, over 500 participants and 40 teams walked around the indoor track enjoying performances from students and singing groups.
Dods Hall Dodgeball -- say that 10 times fast! WNYF-TV will host a dodgeball tournament this Saturday, April 27, in Dods Hall Gym at noon. No. 17 Fredonia State rolled over Potsdam, 18-4, to improve to 14-0 and tie a single-season team record for wins in a season. The Blue Devils, 6-0 in the SUNYAC, matched the 14 wins recorded by last year's team en route to Fredonia State's first-ever NCAA appearance in women's lacrosse. There are two regular-season games remaining -- Tuesday at Brockport, and next Saturday at No. 4 Cortland.
The Center for Multicultural Affairs announced three students who won the Rosa Parks Award this spring: Sophomore Nakiya Peterkin, Sophomore Courtney Loiacono, and senior Lisa Alberty. They will be honored in a ceremony today at 4 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center. All are welcome.
