The SUNY Fredonia School of Music Rosch Musical Art Series will present its fourth annual collaborative concert with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) on Friday, October 30, at 8 p.m. in King Concert Hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus. The world-class symphony will be led by JoAnn Falletta, acclaimed by The New York Times as “one of the finest conductors of her generation.” YouTube carries an interview with Natasha Farny.
The Fredonia School of Music announced three showcase concerts to celebrate Family Weekend Oct. 16, 17, and 18. Friday night the students and faculty will present the Choral Showcase Concert; Saturday the College Symphony Orchestra will perform and Sunday, King Concert Hall is the venue for the Band Showcase Concert.
The SUNY Fredonia School of Music kicks off the 2009-2010 Rosch Musical Arts Series with an afternoon performance by internationally renowned Verdehr Trio. The event is Sunday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. This unique and dynamic ensemble will perform an eclectic mix of old and new. Members of the ensemble will talk about each piece from stage, creating an open and warm atmosphere in the concert hall.
The Musical Journeys Program of the Fredonia School of Music will kick off its fourth season of free concerts designed to appeal to very young children on Saturday, Oct. 17. Planned with the help of SUNY Fredonia experts in music and education, the child-friendly environment will invite the children to sit on the floor close to the musicians.
The Fredonia School of Music is planning several special concerts for Homecoming, including the ever-popular Alumni Jazz Concert featuring jazz artists who got their start as students in the Fredonia Jazz Ensemble during the early 1970s.The concert will take place Friday, Oct. 9,. at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. Admission is free. This reunion will feature both former and current Fredonia Jazz Ensemble artists.

"An Evening of Art Song" will be performed by guest recitalists Alexander Hurd, baritone, and Alison D'Amato, pianist, on Friday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The program includes works by Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, Hanns Eisler, and Mahler. Admission is free.
Retro, a Fredonia School of Music chamber group dedicated to the performance of high quality 20th century classical works, will perform a concert under the baton of Professor Rob Deemer on Sunday, Oct. 4, of William Walton's "Façade: An Entertainment," with poetry by Edith Sitwell.
SUNY Fredonia’s a cappella groups Much More Chill (all-male) and Some Like it Hot (all-female) will open for alternative rock singer-songwriter Ben Folds, who will perform with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) during a concert on Oct. 8 at Kleinhan’s Music Hall in Buffalo.
