Faculty, staff receive SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence

Four faculty and staff members in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the State University of New York at Fredonia, a Finance and Administration staff member who ensures campus compliance with state and SUNY internal control requirements, and a valued staff member from the Office of Admissions, have received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence, an honor that recognizes consistently superior professional achievement.

Igoe and Rivera honored with President’s Award for Excellence

The 20th President’s Awards for Excellence and Service Recognition Luncheon was held April 24 in the Williams Center. Scores of employees, family and friends packed the Multipurpose Room to support and congratulate the year’s award recipients: Michael Igoe, an assistant professor of Communication, who received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning; and Dr. Carmen Rivera, currently serving as associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, who received the President’s Award for Excellence in University Service.

Fredonia students bound for health professions, graduate schools

Advanced degrees in medicine, optometry, pharmacy, chiropractic, physical therapy and veterinary science, along with doctorates in biology and chemistry, will be the goal in the next educational chapters of 17 members of the Class of 2019. They comprise one of the largest cohorts of students continuing their education in doctoral and health professions schools in the last 10 years at Fredonia.

Science students shine at ACS research symposium

With one student receiving a first place award and three others delivering poster presentations, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was well represented at the Western New York section of the American Chemical Society’s 12th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium, held April 27 at D'Youville College.
