Devils raise dollars while scoring goals

Fredonia added to its total donation to the American Cancer Society and to its scoring totals Saturday during Pink The Rink. The Blue Devils, donned in pink jerseys, lit the red lamp repeatedly for a 15-1 win over the Post Wildcats, an NCAA Division II hockey program in its second year of existence.

Rocky tops in triple jump at Spire

Fredonia junior Rocky Caparro (Staten Island/Susan E. Wagner) was the men's triple jump winner Saturday at The Spire Institute Team Challenge. Caparro stretched the tape out to 13.71 meters -- 44.98 feet -- to top of field of 20 men and earn 10 team points. The Blue Devils had a total of 24 points overall and finished 10th in the 12-team field.

Couperus wins Spire high jump

Fredonia's Sarah Couperus (Marion, N.Y./Marion) won the women's high jump Saturday at The Spire Institute Team Challenge. Couperus, a junior, cleared 1.58 meters -- 5.18 feet -- to top a field of 12 high jumpers and earn 10 first-place points. That accounted for over a quarter of Fredonia's 36 team points, good for ninth in a field of 12.

Bogart chosen SUNYAC Goalie of Week

Fredonia sophomore goaltender Eric Bogart (London, Ont.) has been chosen SUNYAC Men's Hockey Goaltender of the Week. Bogart stopped 68 of 70 shots he faced in a pair of non-conference wins at home last week -- 7-2 over Western New England and 4-0 over Johnson & Wales.

Devils clutch late, drop Knights

Richard De La Cruz connected on a pair of free throws with 1:29 left to play to give Fredonia its first lead of the game and the Devils dominated the final minute-and-a-half of play to claim a 68-62 victory at Geneseo on Saturday. Nicc Johnson would lead the Devils with 15 points.

Devils drop thriller

A three-pointer by Jacque Law (Machias/Pioneer) with 19 seconds left tied the game, yet league-leading Geneseo pulled out a 55-54 victory over Fredonia in SUNYAC basketball action on Saturday.

Devils shoot past Bengals

Senior Alexis Cheatham (Lockport/Lockport) nailed five threes en route to a 21-point effort in helping Fredonia drop the Buffalo State Bengals, 81-60, on Saturday. Four other Devils combined for five threes. It was the second most this season behind the 11 threes Fredonia hit in its previous game, an overtime victory at Brockport.

Devil diving deering-do: High DD's at regional

The lists of dives submitted by two Fredonia divers will be the most difficult in their respective events Friday at the NCAA Division III Region 4 meet. The 11-dive 3-meter list submitted by senior Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y.) has a 25.00 total degree of difficulty, the highest total among the 27 women entered. In the men's 1-meter, Fredonia senior Arron Carlson (LeRoy) has submitted a list with a total event-high 26.30 degree of difficulty.

Carlson claims SUNYAC 1-meter title

Fredonia's Arron Carlson (LeRoy) captured the 2017 State University of New York Athletic Conference men's 1-meter diving title on Day 1 of the conference of the swimming and diving championships at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo.

SUNYAC Swimming & Diving Championship meet Wednesday through Saturday in Buffalo

All nine men's and nine women's swimming and diving teams are set to compete in this year's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 15 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo, N.Y. Look for Fredonia's strong diving contingent and stellar swimmers to make a splash at the event.
