Volleyball earns post-season berth

After a four-game losing streak in the SUNYAC that put the team's post-season hopes in jeopardy, the Blue Devil women's volleyball team swept the final two games of conference play to earn the sixth seed in the SUNYAC Tournament. The Blue Devils will face No. 3 Oswego in the quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament on Nov. 6.

Healy nets 2OT winner vs. New Paltz

Parker Healy (East Aurora) scored late in the second overtime as short-handed Fredonia celebrated Senior Day with a 5-4 SUNYAC home win over New Paltz. Healy settled the ball and scored into a vacated net after New Paltz goalkeeper John Guzzo fell after defending a high cross with 2:16 left in the second overtime. The assist went to Vinny Chimento (Akron, N.Y.), one of four Fredonia seniors playing their final home game.

Goeing, Rokos, Bartlett double winners

Sam Rokos (Delanson/ Duanesburg) was a double winner and bested her own school record in the 100-meter IM at Ithaca on Saturday. Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) and Lauren Goeing (Clarence/ Clarence) were also a double winners at the tri-meet. Brockport was the third school to compete at the meet hosted by the Bombers.

Kleine's hat trick carries the day for Devils

Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia) scored all three goals, including the game-winner during the second overtime, as Fredonia claimed a crucial 3-2 SUNYAC win Saturday over Potsdam at University Stadium. A throw-in by Audrey Yokopovich (Webster) to Alexis Moreland (Newfane) started the game-winning play.

Two runners break 6k school record

The culmination of years of training was on display Saturday by the women's cross country program as two runners broke Fredonia's school record in the 6,000-meter run. Laura Morrison (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) and Lauren Kotas (Lancaster, N.Y./Lancaster) crossed the finish line faster than previous record holder, Kim Foltz.

Collins breaks Fredonia 8k record

After the women's cross country program had two runners break a Fredonia school record Saturday morning, the men's cross country team followed suit with two record-breakers of their own.Kyle Collins (Suffern/Suffern) is Fredonia's new record-holder in the 8,000-meter run after his fifth-place finish of 24:22.The previous record was set in 1979 by Bob Carroll (24:46).

Rokos a double winner at N.U.

The Fredonia women's swimming and diving team was topped by Niagara University, 125-100, on Saturday, but Samantha Rokos was a double winner claiming the 200 IM in a time of 2:17.04, and the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.15. Fredonia featured three other winners.

Offense unleashed in 4-0 win over Oswego

Fredonia's offense came alive in a 4-0 SUNYAC men's soccer home win Friday over Oswego. Shutout in their previous four games, the Blue Devils scored twice in a span of 34 seconds during the first half and added two more goals in the second half.

Devils drop Dragons, 1-0

The Fredonia women's soccer team claimed its first SUNYAC win of the season with a late goal from junior Maria Gordon (Stephentown/Berlin) in a 1-0 victory at Cortland. The team improved to 3-9-1 and 1-3-1 in the conference, while the Red Dragons fell to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in SUNYAC play.
