After the women's cross country program had two runners break a Fredonia school record Saturday morning, the men's cross country team followed suit with two record-breakers of their own.Kyle Collins (Suffern/Suffern) is Fredonia's new record-holder in the 8,000-meter run after his fifth-place finish of 24:22.The previous record was set in 1979 by Bob Carroll (24:46).
The Fredonia women's swimming and diving team was topped by Niagara University, 125-100, on Saturday, but Samantha Rokos was a double winner claiming the 200 IM in a time of 2:17.04, and the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.15. Fredonia featured three other winners.
Fredonia's offense came alive in a 4-0 SUNYAC men's soccer home win Friday over Oswego. Shutout in their previous four games, the Blue Devils scored twice in a span of 34 seconds during the first half and added two more goals in the second half.
The Fredonia women's soccer team claimed its first SUNYAC win of the season with a late goal from junior Maria Gordon (Stephentown/Berlin) in a 1-0 victory at Cortland. The team improved to 3-9-1 and 1-3-1 in the conference, while the Red Dragons fell to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in SUNYAC play.
The Blue Devil women's volleyball team lost to both Brockport and Oneonta on Saturday to fall to 2-4 in the SUNYAC. Kelly Edinger (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) had 36 assists in the four-set loss, while Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster, N.Y. /St. Mary's of Lancaster) had 21 digs.

The Fredonia men's swimming and diving team opened the season with a 157-135 loss to Allegheny on Saturday, Oct. 3. A trio of swimmers won an individual event, while all three each added a relay victory. Divers Rafael Santiago (Middletown/Middletown) and Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) claimed top spots off their respective boards.
Fredonia women's tennis won its third match in three days on Oct. 3, a 5-4 victory over Medaille at the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville. The Blue Devils (6-4) also defeated Pitt-Bradford, 5-1, in a shortened match Friday, Oct. 2, at Bradford, Pa. That was on the heels of a 7-2 home win Oct. 1 over D'Youville.
Two of the top volleyball teams in the New York region will match up in Dods Hall this weekend, while the Battle by the Lake rivalry with SUNY Buffalo State will resume for both men's and women's soccer. The Blue Devil Invitational begins Friday evening.
