The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) can assist students who have a debilitating temporary injury or condition. Examples may include broken bones, injuries requiring surgery, and impairments due to concussions.

Assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis, course-by-course basis, and approved accommodations will depend on the nature of each course and how the student is impacted by the injury/condition. Temporary accommodations may include, but are not limited to (or guaranteed):

  • Note taking software
  • Testing accommodations (e.g., extended time, separate location, assistance with written exams)
  • Access to handicapped parking

Requesting Temporary Accommodations

To request temporary accommodations, students should email DSS at disability.services@fredonia.edu.  Since temporary conditions can occur at any point during the semester, the timing can significantly impact the accommodation options available to the student. Timely and open communication with the DSS, faculty, and other campus offices about requested assistance is needed.
