Sculpture makes strong impression on quadrangle

“Anchors and Gears,” a work created by sculptor Brett Hunter, has been installed in the green space between Mason Hall and Reed Library on the SUNY Fredonia campus. Standing more than six feet tall, it was made from pieces of granite and steel over the course of several months.

Mexico study program preserving indigenous culture

Six undergraduates have just finished the first annual six-week study-abroad program in Mexico this summer at the Ollin Tlahtoalli Centro de Lenguas y Cultura Mexicana. Located in Oaxaca, the center is dedicated to preserving endangered Mexican indigenous languages, the teaching of Spanish within a Mexican cultural framework, and the promotion of Mexican culture and traditions.

Third season in residence, Quartet Program opens

Local music lovers can feast their ears on magnificent chamber works performed by some of the world’s most talented young artists as The Quartet Program launches its third season in residence at SUNY Fredonia. The internationally renowned Ying Quartet opens the season with a special guest artist recital on June 28.

Vice President Bennett wins top award

Tracy S. Bennett, vice president of Administration at SUNY Fredonia, has received the Robert J. Wagner Business Officers Award, the highest citation given by the State University of New York Business Officers Association (SUBOA).

Summer rehearsals and concert for New Horizons Band

A special summer session for the New Horizons Band will be held from Monday, July 7 through Wednesday, July 30. The band will rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and perform a concert for the Fredonia Gazebo Concert Series at Barker Commons on Thursday, July 31, at 7 p.m.

"Relay for Life" forces join June 21 to fight cancer

At noon on Saturday, June 21, SUNY Fredonia's outdoor track will serve as the host site for the Dunkirk/Fredonia region's Relay for Life, to benefit the American Cancer Society.
