Sixth Slush Rush slated for Sunday

The Sixth 5K Slush Rush is slated for Sunday, March 2, beginning at Dods Hall. Race Day Registration and Race Day Check-in is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Dods Hall gymnasium. The Race Start Time is 9 a.m., and the post-race party and awards will begin immediately after the last runner finishes. For complete registration information.

PR capstone taps two nonprofits for Community Partners Program

Students within the campus' Public Relations Capstone course have chosen Chautauqua Rails to Trails and Greystone Nature Preserve as the two organizations they will support during their 2014 Community Partners Program. The organizations were chosen from 16 applicants, the largest number of applications the program has received since it began in 2001. This is also Fredonia’s largest class of public relations students to work on the project, marking the fourth straight year of record enrollment.

Comics coming to campus Feb. 19

Judah Friedlander, proclaimed by “30 Rock” creator and co-star Tina Fey as “one of the all-time greatest weirdos,” will treat local audiences to his engaging and crowd-pleasing stand-up humor at King Concert Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 8 p.m. Also appearing are comedians Jermaine Fowler and Kevin Barnett, who can be seen on shows such as MTV's "Guy Code" and "College Humor." The event is sponsored by the Student Association and is suggested for mature audiences.

Business Club selects Cutting Crew for 37th Annual Business Person of the Year award

The SUNY Fredonia Business Club will present its 37th Annual Business Person of the Year Award to Rita Canfora and Debbie Michalak, owners of the Cutting Crew beauty salon. The award ceremony will be Thursday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room. Tickets can be purchased for $30 at the SUNY Fredonia Ticket Office or at: www.fredonia.edu/tickets, until Feb. 26.

FSA now accepting funding applications

The Faculty Student Association is now accepting Program Account applications for the program year, which runs June 1, 2014 to May 31, 2015. The deadline for applications is Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at 7 a.m. Over $146,500 is slated to be dispersed! A new initiative of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has the potential to attract entrepreneurs and business veterans, which may even include alumni, back to Fredonia.“Start-Up NY,” is an unprecedented economic development plan designed to entice new and existing businesses to move to, return to, or expand within New York State — and SUNY campuses like Fredonia are at its heart.

Family series brings Vaudeville mayhem to Marvel Feb. 7

Henrik Bothe and Woody Keppel are internationally renowned vaudevillians and veterans of film, television, radio and the stage. Under the stage name of Wells and Woodhead, they have performed for audiences on six continents — and they now return to unleash their antics at SUNY Fredonia’s Rockefeller Arts Center for the first time since 2009. The Kaleidoscope Family Series presents “Masters of Mayhem: Wells and Woodhead” on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in Marvel Theatre.

SUNY Fredonia hosts 3-1-3 meeting for high school juniors

Area high school juniors interested in starting their college career early are invited to attend an informational meeting to learn about SUNY Fredonia’s 3-1-3 Program on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 7 p.m., in Room S204A of the Williams Center. The 3-1-3 program allows students to begin taking courses on campus at SUNY Fredonia as fully-admitted students during their senior year in high school.
