Rohan Patrick, ’92, the new owner/manager of The White Inn in Fredonia, will be honored as this year’s distinguished alumnus at the EDP's annual awards ceremony on Wednesday, March 11. Having established a stellar, 16-year career as an illustrator and graphic designer which he continues to maintain through an online business, Patrick moved from Monticello, N.Y., last fall to undertake this new adventure.
SUNY Fredonia’s School of Music will host guest artist Gail Williams, an internationally recognized horn player from Western New York. Students will have the opportunity to work with Williams in a horn master class on March 2 at 4 p.m., and the artist will be the featured soloist in the university’s Wind Ensemble Concert on Tuesday, March 3 at 8 p.m.
Students from SUNY Fredonia’s Colleges Against Cancer club will be holding a spaghetti dinner for cancer survivors and anyone who has been affected by the disease. The dinner, to be held Wednesday, March 4, will celebrate those who have survived cancer and also raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at SUNY Fredonia will once again host its annual Pi Day event on Thursday, March 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Dods Hall. Pi Day has been celebrated around the world by math enthusiasts annually since 1998 and at SUNY Fredonia since 2002.
The SUNY Fredonia International Education Center is hosting its inaugural 3K Fun Run on Sunday, March 1 at 11 a.m. on the Fredonia campus. Dubbed the “Slush Rush” because of the anticipation of snow still being on the ground, the race is being held in remembrance of alumna Xylia Peterson, ’85, and to benefit the scholarship in her name.
The Student Association held a rally to protest budget cuts and tuition redirection actions taken by the state against SUNY. At the rally, some speakers called the action "stealing." President Hefner explained the implications of the state's move.
Aromas from foods representing cultures from around the globe will entice students to try new cuisine at the annual International Dinner to be served Wednesday, March 11, at Marketplace at Erie by FSA. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. Extra staff will be on duty to help accommodate a larger dinner turnout of students. The dinner is covered through the campus meal plans but the public is welcome to pay cash at the door

SUNY Fredonia’s Educational Development Program (EDP) will celebrate its students at the 27th annual awards ceremony on Wed., March 11 at 4 p.m. in the Horizon Room of the Williams Center. Rohan Patrick, a 1992 graduate who is now the new owner and manager of The White Inn in Fredonia, will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award during the ceremony.
