Morrow is a sought-after motivational speaker and workshop facilitator, utilizing diverse topics such as developing relationships through writing, the influence of hip-hop on the planet, and the National Education Association mentoring program. On March 8 he will deliver a talk entitled, "Old School to New School -- Revising Survival Techniques for a New World."

New York Governor David A. Paterson has appointed prominent Dunkirk attorney Michael Cerrie, '03, to the SUNY Fredonia College Council. His seven-year appointment became effective in September and will conclude in June 2017.

SUNY Fredonia's mix of male and female a cappella voices, Premium Blend, will celebrate the group's fifth anniversary with the first a cappella invitational entitled, BLENDSTOCK. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Multipurpose Room in the Williams Center. More than a dozen Premium Blend alumni will also be returning for an alumni luncheon earlier in the day.
More than 1,000 guests got together to thank donors, connect with students, and recognize the more than $1 million in scholarship support distributed to students in last year during the 25th annual Scholars Breakfast, held Saturday, Oct. 23 in Steele Hall Arena. Among the featured speakers were SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher and Dr. Michael Marletta, '73, a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California at Berkeley and a member of the prestigious National Academy of Sciences.
Junior Biology Major Katie Walters has created a display in Reed Library that helps the campus community understand the seriousness of the region's infestation of the emerald ash borer beetle, whose larvae are causing the death of entire sections of forest ash trees. A Fredonia biology graduate is active in the fight against the devastating pest.
On Saturday, October 16 at 8 p.m., the Robert H. Jackson Center will host a one-man show starring Theatre Professor James Ivey that depicts the life of Clarence Darrow, the noted attorney in the Scopes “Monkey Trial.” Tom Loughlin will direct the play, and the Alumni Office will host a reunion that starts at 6 p.m. with a reception prior to the play for area SUNY Fredonia graduates.
