Story of Marie Curie on stage Dec. 6
Susan Marie Frontczak as Marie Curie In the drama, Susan Marie Frontczak of "StorySmith" performs the role of Mme. Marie Curie, known for her 19th century discovery of radium and radioactivity. The event is the first to be supported by the Phyllis and Lawrence Patrie Endowment for the Sciences.
Broomball games raising dollars for orphans
SUNY Fredonia students are supporting the local Rotary Club’s “Let Kids Be Kids” program through a broomball tournament to be held Friday, Dec. 1 from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the Steele Hall Ice Rink. The event is open to all, and refreshments will be provided.
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to be sung
The Fredonia School of Music will present its 20th annual production of “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia. The concert is free and open to the public.

Wind Power is subject of panel discussion Nov. 15
The Chautauqua County League of Women Voters is sponsoring a thought-provoking program on wind power as an alternative energy option. The event will take place at SUNY Fredonia on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Room S 104 of the Williams Center. Panelists will be Fredonia faculty Jack Berkley and Ken Mantai, and community leaders Elizabeth Booth and Claire Quadri.
Naturalist to speak Nov. 15 in Jewett Hall
Author and naturalist Scott Weidensaul will speak at SUNY Fredonia on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. in Jewett Hall Room 101, and that evening at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History in Jamestown. The biology department has invited him to give an informal seminar including taking questions from students.
"Mary Cobb and Friends" in concert Saturday
Mary Cobb of the Fredonia School of Music will present a faculty recital on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall, entitled, “Mary Cobb and Friends.” The concert will feature Ms. Cobb performing works by Mozart and Chopin. “Friends” joining her after the intermission are colleagues on the Fredonia School of Music faculty: Brian Walnicki, Wildy Zumwalt, Angela Dilkey, and Mario Falcao.
"Fantasia," annual ETHOS concert, is Nov. 8
The Ethos New Music Society at SUNY Fredonia presents “Fantasia” on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. Original film scores written by students will accompany diverse clips from film and television in this perennial favorite. Admission is free and open to the public.
Pearl Harbor Day observed in arts series
“Things We Carried,” a traveling exhibit from the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago, opens Nov. 15 in the Main Gallery of the Access to The Arts, opening the second annual Healing Arts program sponsored by the SUNY Fredonia Carnahan Jackson Humanities Fund.
