“I like to call Roland ‘the poet of the guitar,’” James Piorkowski said of Roland Dyens. He is known for his open-minded playing and openings, and is considered to be the “crème de la crème” of composer- guitarists.
Craig Schulman was a student at SUNY Fredonia more than three decades ago when “the hook was set” for him to become a professional performer. “I have very warm, found memories of Fredonia,” he said. “It will be great to be back. I had a wonderful time there.” As a professional performer, he has been on major stages around the world – his starring roles have included the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s “The Phantom Of The Opera,” Jean Valjean in “Les Misérables” and the title roles in “Jekyll & Hyde.”

Andrew Bisantz, a 1995 SUNY Fredonia alumnus and exciting young American conductor, will work with voice students on artistry, interpretation and musicality Saturday, Sept. 10. His master class begins at noon in Rosch Recital Hall in Mason Hall, and is open to students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Music Professor Joe Dan Harper performed as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood on Parade in August, the annual full-day of musical events that ends with a celebratory concert at the Tanglewood Music Center, which is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
