Fredonia to pilot SUNY's new "Smart Track" student debt management system

A new “SUNY Smart Track Campaign” to combat student debt throughout New York and set a national model has been created by SUNY and is being piloted at SUNY Fredonia. Smart Track is said to be the most proactive, comprehensive approach by any university system in the U.S. to address a growing national concern about a lack of transparency as it relates to college costs and financial aid, and the amount of federal loan debt accumulated by college students.

SEFA sets 201s campaign goal to $45,000, seeks full participation

Full participation by SUNY Fredonia faculty and staff is being sought for this year's SEFA campaign, the State Employees’ Federated Appeal for community services. Kathy Dyckes, the co-chair of the campaign, said the committee has set a goal of $45,000 for this year's SEFA Campaign at SUNY Fredonia.

Technology Incubator "graduates" first tenant, TexTivia

The SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator has graduated its first tenant since opening its new facility in December 2009. TexTivia, an innovative digital and social media marketing agency, was founded at the incubator. Upon graduation, TexTivia will relocate into nearby office space within the Dunkirk Professional Building, 314 Central Ave., Suite 303. One of the new incubator building’s original tenants, TexTivia has captured a tremendous number of new customers, generating a ten-fold increase in revenue last year.

More than two dozen science alumni returned for Science Alumni Conference; gave talks in Williams Center

More than two dozen alumni returned to campus this weekend for the SUNY Fredonia Science Alumni Conference, which took place on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 1 to 5:30 p.m., in the Williams Center. Science alumni gave 20-minute talks in biology, biochemistry, chemistry environmental science, space and atmospheric science, medicinal and pharmaceutical sciences.

WNYF students team up with Board of Elections to train inspectors

The men and women who run the elections in Chautauqua County will have a new state of the art tool in October to learn the specifics relating to their duties in poll site operation. The Chautauqua County Board of Elections and SUNY Fredonia's student television station WNYF-TV have teamed up to produce a training video for the Internet to teach county election inspectors how to do their Election day jobs.

Flash Mob launches Inauguration Week with dance outside the Commons

A full-scale "flash mob" dance, featuring more than 100 students, faculty and staff, launched a week filled with events that will celebrate the inauguration of the university's new president, Dr. Virginia Horvath, who also joined the dancers in their performance Monday at noon outside of University Commons.
