Throwers account for four personal-bests

Fredonia men had four personal-bests in throwing events, one in jumping, and two in running Sunday during the Nazareth Roc City Classic outdoor track & field meet.

Chatley to receive One Love's 'Unsung Hero' honor

Fredonia junior swimmer Ben Chatley of Sanborn will be recognized in April by The One Love Foundation as the recipient of its Campus Unsung Hero Award. He will receive the award April 19 in New York City for his role in 10 Million Yards for Yeardley, a week-long initiative to raise awareness of domestic violence and relationship abuse on college campuses. The inaugural event will be held April 24-29 at Fredonia and the other nine SUNYAC campuses.

Long ball powers sweep

Fredonia used some instant offense with four home runs to drop Oneonta, 7-6 and 5-4, in a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. Down 5-2 in the eighth inning of Game 1, Alexio Medina lofted a towering homer to tie the game at 5-all. Liam Kelly would deliver a two-run shot -- an inside-the-park round-tripper -- in the tenth inning to secure the win.

Bartlett and Carlson receive top SUNYAC honors for diving

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced award winners for men's and women’s swimming and diving. Voted on by the coaches, the awards honor the Swimmer, Diver, and Rookie of the Year for the conference, including Fredonia divers Meghan Bartlett and Arron Carlson.

Devils roll to win in SUNYAC opener

Fredonia opened the SUNYAC portion of its 2017 women's lacrosse season with a 13-1 home win Saturday afternoon over the Potsdam Bears. Katie Miller had five goals and collected four draw controls to lead the Blue Devil attack. Nicole Burrows made five saves while coming within one shot of posting Fredonia's first-ever shutout in the sport.

Carlson closes out career 3rd in 3-meter

Blue Devil senior diver Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) finished third in men's 3-meter springboard diving Saturday night at the NCAA Division III. A four-year student-athlete with the Blue Devils, Carlson will graduate as the school record-holder on both boards and in both 6-dive and 11-dive scores.

Bartlett fourth in NCAA 1-meter

Senior Meghan Bartlett (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) finished fourth on Friday in women's 1-meter springboard diving at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship meet. It completed a sweep of six All-American awards in her three-year career at Fredonia.

Carlson takes 4th in NCAA 1-meter; All-American

Arron Carlson (LeRoy/Notre Dame) finished fourth Thursday in men's 1-meter springboard diving at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving championship meet. Carlson's score of 492.90 earned him his third All-American honor in two years.

Bartlett finishes 3rd in NCAA 3-meter; All-American

Fredonia senior Meghan Bartlett finished third Wednesday in women's 3-meter springboard diving at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving championship meet in Shenandoah, Texas. After moving up from fifth after preliminaries, Bartlett recorded 481.05 points for 11 dives. It resulted in her fifth All-American award over the past three seasons.

Frontale nets pair of game winners

Ciro Frontale (Syracuse/Bishop Ludden) drove in the game's only run in a 1-0, extra-inning victory in Game 1, before knocking in a pair in the top of the sixth to break a 5-all tie as the Devils claimed a 7-6 victory in Game 2, sweeping SUNY Farmingdale on Tuesday.
