Swimmer Rokos a double winner

Sam Rokos won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles as the Fredonia Blue Devil swimming and diving team opened its season at Ithaca on Saturday. Brockport also participated in the tri-meet. In the 100 free, Rokos finished in 55.50, and put up a time of 2:00.22 in the 200 free.

Midnight Madness to kick off Homecoming Weekend

A Midnight Madness pep rally will take place Friday, Oct. 17 in the Steele Hall Fieldhouse at 9 p.m. Come cheer on the Blue Devils basketball teams and their coaches, take part in half- and full-court shot contests, and watch some musical and dance performances. This event kicks off Homecoming Weekend.

Ice skating lessons are underway once again at Fredonia

Community members of all ages have returned to Fredonia’s Steele Hall Ice Arena on Sunday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Oct. 7 for a 10-week learn-to-skate program coordinated by the Fredonia Department of Athletics. Registration is still available by calling the Department of Athletics and Recreation Office at (716) 673-3101.

Women's Tennis earns milestone win on Senior Day

Fredonia senior Stephanie Thompson won her 20th career singles match Saturday in the Blue Devils' 8-1 home win over Medaille. It raised her career singles mark to 20-21 and broke a tie with former teammate Molly Zanetti for singles wins, the most by a Blue Devil in the past seven seasons.

Devils volleyball finishes 3-0 in Pool Play

The Fredonia women's volleyball team gathered two more conference wins Saturday by dropping Plattsburgh and Brockport in SUNYAC Pool Play. The Blue Devils improved to 3-0 and will host the Blue Devil Invitational in Dods Hall on Oct. 3 and 4.

Men's Soccer off to best start since 2001

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at University Stadium, the Fredonia men's soccer team found themselves locked in an intense, physical battle with the Golden Eagles of Brockport. When the dust settled, the game ended in a 2-2 overtime tie. The Blue Devils are off to their best start since 2001 at 6-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the SUNYAC.

Devils even score with Nazareth

A service ace by sophomore Sara Madison (Rochester, N.Y.) was the final point in Fredonia's 3-2 home women's volleyball win Thursday over Nazareth College. Fredonia improved to 8-6.

Invitational opens Fredonia cross country season

The fourth annual Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational will launch the fall season for the men’s and women’s cross country teams on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at Lake Erie State Park. Fredonia alumni are invited to cheer the Blue Devils or, if they’re in running shape, actually participate in men’s or women’s races.

Josh Best honored with SUNYAC Award of Valor

In mid-June, the State University of New York Athletic Conference awarded Josh Best of Fredonia with its 2014 Award of Valor. Best’s distinction: he played four seasons of men’s college soccer with one arm. If you didn’t know about the Blue Devils’ one-armed player, you’re not alone. Best preferred it that way.
