Updated 10/01/25:

US Travel with Students  When faculty/staff are taking students off campus, a Travel Authorization (TA) should be submitted prior to the travel.  The TA should identify the faculty/staff member as the traveler, indicate the reason for the travel (e.g., field trip), and include a list of all students who will be traveling. Students who are at least 18 years of age, hold a valid US driver’s license, and have completed a LENS Release Form may drive university vans.  (See the Use of State Vehicles Policy for additional options and/or requirements.)   Students must be supervised by a faculty/staff member.  This might include a faculty/staff member driving one van and a student another.  They must stay together for supervision purposes.  Academic Affairs requires that students drive state vehicles only when necessary. All accidents should be reported to the location’s proper authorities, regardless of the extent or nature of the damage.  In addition, the University Police and the appropriate division leadership (e.g., vice president) should be notified.   Any student traveling is strongly encouraged to fill out the Assumption of Risk Form. Please contact your dean with any questions.
