ENED 101 Intro to English Adolescence Education | Dr. Ann Siegle Drege Sections 01, 02, 03, 04 | An introduction to what it means to be a middle or high school ELA teacher, exploring current theory and practice. ENED 101 is a field experience course with 10 hours spent in a secondary classroom. |
ENED 201 Engaged Teaching in English | Dr. Ann Siegle Drege Section 01 | This course explores engagement in the secondary classroom and approaches that foster engaged student learning. |
ENED 250 Literacy and Technology | Dr. KimMarie Cole Section 01 | Roll up your sleeves and explore new technology tools to support all learners in your future classroom. Through a combination of reading and hands-on practice, students will earn oral communication credit, develop some ideas about teaching with tech, and learn how AI tools can support literacy. |
ENED 301 Reflective Teaching in English | Dr. Ann Siegle Drege Sections 01, 02, 03, 04 | In this field experience course, students spend 25 hours in the secondary classroom and reflect on their observations, teaching, and current pedagogical issues. |
ENED 354 Literature for Intermediate Grades | Dr. Heather McEntarfer Section 01 | We study of a range of texts written for children in grades 3-6. Students learn about the cognitive, social, and psychological development typical at this age and consider these changes in relation to children's home, school, and community experiences. Students discuss and prepare to teach texts to a wide range of students through the use of a number of "best practices" for literature instruction. |
