The SUNY Fredonia 2009-2010 Phonothon, held October to November and February to April provides a great opportunity for students to earn money, learn basic telemarketing skills, and help the university.

Welch’s/National Scholarships have been awarded to two incoming freshmen at SUNY Fredonia, Alissa M. Cole of Fredonia, N.Y., and Elizabeth Martin of Sheridan, N.Y. Each received a $1,100 award for the 2009-10 academic year.
The Fredonia College Foundation presented its Distinguished Service Awards on Saturday in the Williams Center on the SUNY Fredonia campus. This year’s honorees, which must be citizens and organizations that make significant contributions to society through business, government, education and the arts, were Mrs. Gileen W. French, The Holmberg Foundation, and the Quatroche Family.
SUNY Fredonia has launched a Veterans Honor Roll on its website. The names of U.S. veterans are placed on the list by donors to the new Veterans Scholarship Fund, which has been created by the Fredonia College Foundation and the Veterans Affairs Office.
The International Education Center generated more than $2,500 for the Xylia Peterson Memorial Fund by creating the 3K "Slush Run" fun run held in early March. These proceeds will provide scholarship assistance to junior or senior level international students who need financial help.
The spring Phonathon, conducted by the University Advancement division, brought in over $22,000 in pledges mainly from SUNY Fredonia parents.
Caring, funny, passionate, and a woman of conviction are a few words that describe Phyllis Willson of Eden, N.Y., who was honored at the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon in Buffalo, N.Y., in November 2008. A graduate of the Fredonia Normal School Class of 1939, Mrs. Willson was nominated by SUNY Fredonia for the honor. She was described as "an exemplary alumna, donor and friend of the university."
