Robert Jordan to perform concert celebrating his 70th birthday Sept. 11

On Saturday, Sept. 11, the School of Music is hosting a celebration in honor of emeritus piano professor Robert Jordan on his 70th birthday. The event includes a concert by Mr. Jordan, a reception and dinner, and will be highlighted by the announcement of a new endowment in his name made possible by one of his appreciative students.

Two sisters awarded Welch's/National Scholarships

Welch’s/National Scholarships have been awarded to two sisters attending SUNY Fredonia. Sophomore Halee and Senior Kazlin Mason of Westfield, N.Y. each received $1,100 awards for the 2010-11 academic year. Welch’s and the National Grape Cooperative endowed the scholarship with the Fredonia College Foundation for students at SUNY Fredonia with academic merit and who are the children or grandchildren of their employees or grower-owners.

Bill Finn, '83 business graduate, now CEO of Buffalo hospice center, to meet with academic leaders

SUNY Fredonia alumnus William E. Finn (’83. Bus. Admin.), President and Chief Executive Officer for The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care (CHPC) in Buffalo, N.Y., will return to his alma mater this Tuesday, May 11. During his visit he will meet with college administrators and departmental leaders to discuss opportunities for partnerships across multiple disciplines for students, graduates and faculty researchers.

Gift by biology alum funds new imaging system

Student and faculty research projects in Jewett Hall biology classes are being greatly enhanced by the gift of a new Syngene gel documentation system, thanks to a donation by Dr. Christopher Mirabelli, ’77, who has held senior research and development positions in the pharmaceutical industry
