Students invited to apply for Phonathon jobs

The Fredonia College Foundation will be hiring students to staff its annual fundraising appeal by making calls to potential donors this fall and spring. The Phonathon callers are expected to work two or three nights a week between Sunday through Thursday evenings during the months of October, November, February, March, and April. Students can download the application online. The deadline to apply is September 12.

James Davis a presenter at Canisius arts series

James Davis, professor of musicology and musicology, will give a presentation at Canisius College entitled “Military Bands and the Intersection of Communities during the American Civil War” on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Regis Room of the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center.

Jessica Goodell was a non-traditional student at Fredonia until she graduated in 2010 with a psychology degree. The Iraq veteran had a story to tell, however, that would come as a surprise to many who knew her on campus. It was a story that she didn't talk about, but has since detailed in a book that is getting national publicity.

Men's cross-country looks to contend

A roster devoid of seniors has interim head coach Tom Wilson optimistic about the 2011 Fredonia State men's cross country team, and beyond. The key returners are juniors Jake Krautwurst, Ryan Delaney and Jack Bennett; and sophomore Nico Piacentini. A solid junior college transfer and a freshmen class with impressive high school credentials will join them.

Women runners look to move up in SUNYAC

The Fredonia State women's cross country team is young. One of two seniors on the roster, Amanda Solly, is ready to lead the team into the 2011 season. Solly was her team's No. 1 runner in one meet in 2010, was No. 4 once, and No. 5 twice. She will have to help fill the void left by Becca List's decision to sit out this fall to let a knee injury heal. List was the Blue Devils' top runner most of last season.
