Brown Bag Lecture Series presents 'Ethics and Technology' on April 2

The Liberal Arts and Sciences Brown Bag Lecture Series will be presenting, "Ethics and Technology," on Wednesday, April 2, at noon in McEwen Hall Room 202. Speakers will include Bond Benton, assistant professor from the Department of Communication; Jason Cline, a Department of Philosophy student; Andrew Cullison, associate professor from the Department of Philosophy; and Robert Olson, visiting instructor from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.

'Rock Out for Cancer' on Friday to raise funds for St. Jude

Fredonia for St. Jude is hosting its annual “Rock Out For Cancer” event in order to raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., on Friday, March 28 in Steele Hall from 7 to 10 p.m. The event, which is open to faculty and students, will include performances from Fredonia’s beloved campus groups Premium Blend, Much More Chill, Step Team, The Riveters, The Guerrillas and The Brister Boys.

Multicultural film series continues March 28

The SUNY Fredonia multi-cultural “Renga” is hosting a spring film series, titled, “Through Your Eyes: International Diversity in Film.” The five film series will consider many facets of diversity across cultures and nations. Beginning on Friday, Feb. 14, the films will be shown at 7 p.m. in McEwen Hall Room 202. Each film will be introduced by a faculty member with expertise in the region or topic.

Young Philosophers Lecture Series returns April 10

Justin Capes, lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities at East Tennessee State University, will be the second guest of the Young Philosophers Lecture Series on Thursday, April 10. Dr. Capes' first lecture will be at 12:30 p.m., and a second at 5 p.m., both in Williams Center Room S204.

Two SUNY Fredonia adjunct faculty receive new Chancellor’s Awards

Amber Rinehart, of the SUNY Fredonia Communication Department, and Maureen Yuen, of the School of Music, have gained SUNY-wide recognition as recipients of Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching, a new honor that celebrates consistently superior adjunct faculty teaching at the undergraduate, graduate or professional level.

Thai-American non-fiction author to speak at visiting writers series

Ira Sukrungruang, a Thai-American author of the memoir, “Talk Thai: The Adventures of Buddhist Boy,” and the poetry collection, “In Thailand It is Night,” will speak at SUNY Fredonia on Thursday, April 3, as part of the Mary Louise White Visiting Writers Series. Students and community members are invited to meet the writer in an interactive setting at his craft talk, held from 4 to 5 p.m., and attend a reading and book signing that starts at 7 p.m., both in McEwen Hall Room 202.

Campus Climate Challenge looks for acts for variety show

The Campus Climate Challenge will host an Earth Week Eco Variety Show in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. The group is looking for groups and individuals to perform five to 15 minute performances ranging from comedy, acting, musical and dance ensembles, to formal presentations, screening of a short film, or a poetry or short story reading.
