Women's Soccer just became nationally ranked -- for the first time ever! The Blue Devils have earned their first ever national ranking -- #22 in this week's poll -- following their victory over the nation's top-ranked William Smith College Herons. The Fredonia State women's soccer team scored in the 30th minute and held off No. 1 ranked William Smith for a 1-0 win in a non-league match on Saturday (Sept. 15) afternoon. The Blue Devils improve to 4-1-0, while the Herons are now 4-1-1.
The reigning Olympic women's pole vaulter champion Jenn Suhr visited the Fredonia State campus Thursday as a guest of Tom Wilson, the Blue Devil head cross country and track & field coach.
The men's basketball team in conjunction with Community Blood Bank is hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in the multipurpose room of the newly renovated Williams Center.
Dr. Pat Damore, former Athletic Director and coach at SUNY Fredonia, as well as the first Commissioner of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, has been named the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference Commissioner's Award.
The Fredonia State Athletics and Recreation Department recently added to its staff with the hire of Casey Graham as an assistant athletic trainer. She will also assume responsibilities in the new and expanded Blue Devil Fitness Center, due to open early next year. Her appointment was made possible through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant Program.
The grades from the last semester are out and three women's teams took the top three spots for academic performance, with the volleyball team taking first with a cumulative GPA of 3.62. The Women's Basketball team and the Women's Lacrosse team finished the semester with a 3.42 and a 3.41 cumulative GPA, respectively, taking the second and third spots.

The annual student athletics awards gala was held over the weekend, honoring this year's top seniors and other outstanding athletes.
Fredonia State junior diver Sarah Ficarro (Owego) finished second in the nation in women's 3-meter springboard diving at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving championships. Ficarro earned 467.65 points to defeat six other finalists Saturday night. Ruth Hahn of Trinity won the competition with 481.00 points. Read the entire story>>
The Fredonia State men's track and field team broke one school record and had five athletes turn in ECAC Regional Meet qualifying standards at the SUNYAC Championships held at Hobart College on Sunday. The men finished sixth overall. More>>
