Fredonia has been selected to play in the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament for the second time. The Blue Devils (11-6) will play host to Liberty League champ Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at 3 p.m. on Saturday at University Stadium. The Blue Devils made the tournament as an at-large team, just as they did in 2012, when they played host to St. John Fisher.

Fredonia sophomore Collin Mulcahy (Batavia, N.Y.) finished first in the men's 1,500 meters at the 2014 SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field chammpionship meet Saturday at Geneseo. Mulcahy's 3:57.02 was .85 of a second faster than the second-place runner, Alex Ngabo of Buffalo State, who came into the meet seeded No. 1 in the event. Mulcahy also finished seventh in the 800 meters (2:03.06) and earned 12 team points total, tied for eighth most among runners. He was named All-SUNYAC as a result of his first-place finish.
Fredonia’s Emily Cummiskey won the long jump (5.25 meters / 17 feet, 2.75 inches) Saturday at the Brockport Golden Eagle Run, and finished third in the triple jump (11.0 meters / 36 feet, 1.25 inches). She qualified for the upcoming ECAC Division III championship meet in both events.
Fredonia State's ace Sean Larson continued his dominance of SUNYAC opponents on Saturday, this time taking down No. 7 Cortland State. Larson tossed a complete game, winning 3-1.
Marissa Cussins (jr.; Corning, N.Y.) scored the lone overtime goal April 19 to enable Fredonia State to turn aside an upset bid by Potsdam, 12-11, in SUNYAC women's lacrosse. The team was ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division III by the IWLCA on Monday for the second consecutive week.
Fredonia State built an early lead and hung on late for a 7-3 SUNYAC softball win April 19 over the Cortland Red Dragons at Blue Devil Field. The Red Dragons bounced back for a 13-1 win in the second game of the doubleheader. In addition to being Senior Day, it was also billed as Strikeout Cancer Day and both teams wore commemorative t-shirts.
The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team defeated SUNYAC opponent, No. 20 Oneonta, 13-8, at University Stadium on Saturday afternoon . The Blue Devils improved to 9-3 overall and 3-1 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta fell to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Fredonia State and Potsdam split their SUNYAC softball doubleheader Saturday at Blue Devil Field. The Blue Devils won the opener, 3-2, while the Bears bounced back to win the second game, 4-0.
The Fredonia State baseball team used five pitchers to work its way to a 4-2 non-conference victory at Pitt-Bradford on Sunday. Junior Thomas Morris (Syosset) got things started with three scoreless innings, and freshman Cody Herman (Ontario/Wayne) tossed the final two to pick up the victory.
