Tau Sigma National Honor Society 

Tau Sigma

Tau Sigma is an academic honor society designed to both promote and recognize the academic excellence of transfer students. This organization works to encourage transfer students to get involved at their new institutions. Tau Sigma strives to help universities nationwide to serve current and future transfer students, with over 175 chapters in the country. 

Reasons why you should join Tau Sigma!

Tau Sigma is a springboard for professional growth. Here are several advantages of joining:

  • Community service opportunities
  • Develop leadership skills - Serve on the EBoard
  • Great resume builder, especially for the honors and awards section
  • Scholarship opportunities are available 

Membership Criteria:

  • Transfer to an institution of higher learning from another academic institution with at least one full year's academic credits satisfied at the prior institution(s)
  • The student must be registered in a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree and have completed a number of hours equal to an average full load for one term (usually 12 to 15 hours)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 for your first semester at Fredonia

Membership Fee:

A one-time payment of $50 is paid to the National Headquarters when joining Tau Sigma. This fee provides lifetime membership to the group, along with a certificate, and a pin. 

Service Opportunities and Fun Events:

The Fredonia chapter of Tau Sigma plans service and social events like food drives and donation efforts so transfer students can give back to the community and have the opportunity to meet new students.

  • Relay for Life

The Transfer Student Organization (TSO) is a student-led group that assists transfer students in their transition to Fredonia. Our goal is to help transfer students have the best experience they can have here in Fredonia! We offer an array of fun events ranging from community service opportunities to social activities to connect you with other transfer students. We've been where you are and want to be a part of where you're heading!
