We at SUNY Fredonia are deeply saddened by the closure of the University of the Arts. We understand the profound impact this event has had on you, and we extend our heartfelt sympathies during this challenging time. As you explore alternative paths forward, we would like to highlight our history of championing the arts in our world.

We stand ready to provide a supportive environment for you to continue your education and artistic pursuits.

You should know that SUNY Fredonia has the most comprehensive selection of theatrical degree programs in the SUNY system, offering BFA degrees in Acting, Dance, Musical Theatre, and Theatrical Production and Design, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts. Fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), we can provide a range of experiences and opportunities unlike any other SUNY.

Our School of Music has earned a stellar reputation built on excellence, consistency, and innovation, thanks to our dedicated music faculty. Our Music Education program currently boasts an incredible 100% job placement rate after graduation and our MM Music Education degree program was recently named one of the top 50 in the entire nation. Fredonia's music students perform regularly in the university's Rockefeller Arts Center, designed by acclaimed architect I.M. Pei and listed as one of the 25 most amazing college theaters in the US. Our acclaimed Jazz program has won four DownBeat Magazine Awards in just five years.

Our Department of Visual Arts and New Media offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in visual arts practice, theory, and history. As an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, we provide a balanced education across traditional and new media. Our rapidly expanding Animation and Illustration program emphasizes drawing skills, concept development, experimentation, mixed media, narrative storytelling, historical research, and critical thinking. In the Film and Video program, students learn to create impactful, thought-provoking experimental films while exploring diverse cinematic techniques, narrative structures, and visual storytelling methods. The Graphic Design program features studio-based courses that teach skills for critiquing, evaluating, and creating effective visual solutions for various projects. And the Drawing and Painting program explores both traditional and contemporary approaches, investigating multicultural and gender influences on modern society and art. Each program within the Department of Visual Arts and New Media is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in their chosen field of visual arts.

At Fredonia, you'll find a welcoming college town and a high quality of student life. With similar academic programs, a vibrant campus, and a commitment to ensuring a smooth transition, we invite you to explore the opportunity to complete your degree with us. You belong here!
