Puerto Ricans in Central Florida are focus of traveling exhibit

The bilingual exhibit, "Restoring Community History: Puerto Ricans in Central Florida," will open this week at SUNY Fredonia's Reed Library as well as at the Adams Art Gallery in downtown Dunkirk. The exhibit is part of the SUNY Fredonia Convocation Series which this year follows the theme, "Public Service: Challenges and Opportunities."

Liggins and Hildebrand receive grant from Canada to create course on Niagara region underground railroad

Liggins and Hildebrand received $6,305 to help support the development of a new course to be offered in Spring 2011, titled “Niagara’s Underground Railroad.” The course will include a two-credit segment offered in Spring 2011, and a one-credit option offered during May term, where students will visit Underground Railroad sites in western New York and southeastern Canada.

Mary Louise White Visiting Writers Series to host short-story author Laura van den Berg

SUNY Fredonia will host fiction writer Laura van den Berg to kick off the Spring 2010 Mary Louise White Visiting Writer Series on Thursday, March 11, beginning with a craft talk on writing at 4 p.m., and continuing with a reading from her collection of stories, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us, followed by a book signing at 7 p.m.
