Brooke Strawder named November Student of the Month
Brooke Strawder, a senior Business Administration major from Gowanda, was chosen Student of the Month for November 2021 by the Office of Residence Life.

Robert E. Coon, 94, who was Vice President for Student Affairs Emeritus at the State University of New York College at Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Brooks Hospital in Dunkirk, following a brief illness.
Student class projects impress furniture entrepreneur
Area resident George Theofilactidis, who founded specialty furniture maker El Greco Woodworking, Inc. more than 45 years ago, visited the class recently to see prototypes created by students using mostly blocks of wood that his company donates to SUNY Fredonia’s Sculpture program.
Rivera awarded Gilman scholarship to study in England
Autumn Rivera, a sophomore from Dunkirk majoring in Visual Arts and New Media, has been has been awarded a Gilman scholarship for her study abroad experience in Lancaster, England. She will attend a program at the University of Lancaster in Fall 2022.

Kellie Sacilowski, an Administrative Assistant 1 in Rockefeller Arts Center who’s known for going above and beyond the normal responsibilities and expectations of her position, has received the Poummit Secretarial Award.
It’s showtime for Communication students at screening
“No one can hear you screen!” A play on words, obviously from the “Alien” film franchise, was crafted by students in the Department of Communication to promote their end-of-term screening on Dec. 9.
Art sale to support student Honduras experience
A fundraiser – featuring works of art created by more than a dozen area artists – is underway to raise money to purchase medicine and medical supplies that SUNY Fredonia students will take along with them to Honduras in 2023, where they serve on medical brigades that provide needed health care.
Zoom talk today to explore Jurassic invertebrates
Dr. Mateo Monferran, a researcher with the National Scientific and Technical Research Council currently engaging in investigative work with Department of Geology and Environmental Sciences Assistant Professor Thomas Hegna, will present a Zoom seminar, “Jurassic Continental Invertebrates: The Records from Argentina,” on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m.
Driscoll receives R.A. award for October
Emilia Driscoll, a junior majoring in Molecular Genetics and Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Corning, has been named R.A. of the Month for October by Residence Life.
English students create Stefan Zweig digital humanities projects
Two new digital humanities projects created by Fredonia students were launched on Sunday, Nov. 28, on the Reed Library website to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the birth of author Stefan Zweig.
