The Fredonia women's tennis team won its sixth straight, and seventh match overall, dropping visiting Elmira, 7-2, on Sunday. The team honored senior Chloe Karnisky. She celebrated by winning No. 4 singles, winning 6-0 and 1-0 before her opponent retired.
The fall semester is just four weeks old and Fredonia Blue Devil student-athletes have already been busy successfully completing several community service initiatives. The list includes neighborhood lawn and garden jobs performed by the men's hockey teams, beach cleanup by the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, and the Fredonia Soccer Cancer Awareness Weekend.
Dylan Moeser (Amherst, N.Y.) cleaned up a goal-mouth scramble when he scored 1:10 into overtime and lifted Fredonia over Geneva, 2-1, in men's non-conference soccer Saturday afternoon.
A five-set win over the University of Rochester gave Fredonia a Saturday split at the Buffalo State Bengal Classic. The Blue Devils (7-5) were down 2-1 before rallying in the final two sets, 25-23 and 15-12.

Dave Trabold's (Fairport,/Fairport) goal 1:24 into the first overtime sent the Fredonia men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory and helped the team claim the Blue Devil Classic title on Saturday evening at University Stadium. The win moved the Devils to 4-0 on the season.
The Fredonia women's tennis team upped its mark to 3-1 with s decisive 7-2 triumph at Brockport on Saturday. The Devils swept all three double matches, and took the top four singles matches.
First year student Sarah Bunk (Sayville/Sayville) won both her singles and doubles matches at the Fredonia women's tennis team fell to Cortland, 8-3, on Saturday. Bunk teamed up with Adriana Speach (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) to take their doubles match 8-4. She earned a No. 3 singles win 6-4 and 6-3. The Devils are now 1-1 on the season.
For the second straight year, Fredonia has won a season-opening men's soccer tournament. The Blue Devils (2-0) on Saturday were declared winners of Buffalo State's Fred Hartrick Classic based on goal differential. They finished with a plus-five differential while SUNY Buffalo State, also 2-0, had a plus-four.
