Marimba virtuoso leading workshop on campus June 17 - 21

A truly international event, the academy is drawing students from Japan, Peru, Taiwan, and China, as well as from various locations in the U.S. More than 20 participants will attend workshops and performances with Keiko Abe and her collaborative teachers. The week-long academy culminates with a Gala Performance and Reception with Abe on Friday, June 21 at 8 p.m., in Rosch Recital Hall.

Guest percussionist Keith Aleo on campus April 15 to 17

Percussionist Keith A. Aleo will be on campus for several events April 15 to 17 in the School of Music. Mr. Aleo will serve as a clinician on April 15 at 5 p.m. in Mason Hall Room 1080, will be a judge for the annual drum set competition on April 15 at 8 p.m. at The Spot in the Williams Center, and will appear as guest soloist on the SUNY Fredonia Percussion Ensemble's concert on April 17 at 8 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The events are free and open to the community.

Masterworks Concert to support scholarships will feature Gershwin's beloved 'Rhapsody In Blue'

The Fredonia School of Music will present the fifth annual Masterworks Scholarship Benefit Concert on Sunday, April 28 at 4 p.m. in King Concert Hall. The Fredonia College Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. David Rudge, will be joined by the 100-plus voices of the Fredonia Masterworks Chorus.

Ralph J. Blasting appointed dean of new College of Visual and Performing Arts

On July 1, SUNY Fredonia will officially open its new College of Visual and Performing Arts, formally combining its world-renowned School of Music with its strong departments of Theatre and Dance, and Visual Arts and New Media, as well as the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center. Today, the university named Dr. Ralph J. Blasting as its founding dean.
