SUNYAC announces cancellation of all winter sports
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced it is canceling winter sports competition for 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision was made with the health and safety of all student-athletes in mind.
Expanded campus-wide pool testing for COVID-19 has begun
As part of SUNY Fredonia’s on-going effort to ensure the health and safety of our campus community, the campus has initiated a campus-wide testing protocol in Steele Hall. A weekly testing schedule has been developed to ensure all members of the campus community are included.
Positive COVID-19 cases on campus remain phenomenally low
More students than ever are being tested for COVID-19 at Fredonia, but the number of positive cases is not increasing. In fact, it’s not even budging. There were no positives among 375 students tested on Friday, Oct. 9, the most recent testing day.

Emilee Stenson chosen September ‘Student of the Month’
Emilee Stenson, a senior from Attica, has been named Student of the Month for September by the Office of Residence Life. Ms. Stenson was nominated by Department of English Professor Jeanette McVicker, who described Stenson as a “stellar, inquisitive, intellectually curious and incredibly responsible Honors student.”

Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services Cedric Howard has reported encouraging results from the Oct. 2 pool testing of SUNY Fredonia students for COVID-19.
Spotlight to shine on transfer students all week long
“Fredonia Faces,” a unique digital art project hosted by Tau Sigma, the national honor society for transfer students, a two-part virtual workshop put on by the Career Development Office (CDO) and a re-energized Transfer Student Organization at Fredonia will mark the campus’ inaugural observance of National Transfer Student Week from Oct. 19 to 23.
Family conversation about George Floyd to be revisited on Zoom
An encore viewing of the exclusive and intimate conversation with the family of George Floyd, the Black man who died while being arrested in Minneapolis, Minn., with a white police officer kneeling on his neck for several minutes, will be presented on Zoom on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 8:30 to 9:45 p.m.
Play resumes at eSports Lounge
It’s “game on” again at the Blue Devil eSports Lounge in Schulz Hall! Gamers were back in action on Sept. 21, following a hiatus triggered last March by the coronavirus pandemic (photo taken at the lounge opening in January).
‘Craft Room’ flourishes in virtual format
The Craft Room in Disney Hall may have been shuttered by COVID-19, but students are proving to be just as crafty as ever! More than 100 craft supply bags were distributed during the first four weeks of the now virtual Residence Life program.
