Student Organizations - Theatre and Dance

Welcome to the Student Organizations page. Below you will find a list of a few Student Organizations that our majors are active members apart of. All Twitter, Instagram, or websites associated with Student Organizations are run by students. In no way are they affiliated, policed, or monitored by the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Alpha Psi Omega (APO)

ALPHA PSI OMEGA was organized as a theatre honor society for the purpose of providing acknowledgement to those demonstrating a high standard of accomplishment in theatre and, providing a wider fellowship for those interested in theatre. The society is not intended to take the place of any regular theatre clubs or producing groups, but as students qualify they may be rewarded by election to membership in this society. The Fredonia chapter of Alpha Psi Omega (Theta Omega Cast) is dedicated to acknowledging the hard work ethic of those who have devoted themselves to the Theatrical Arts while achieving and maintaining a high academic standing in the university.

Fredonia Student Chapter United States Institute Theatre Technology (FUSITT)

FUSITT is the Fredonia student chapter of USITT (the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc.) USITT was founded in 1960 to "promote dialogue, research, and learning among practitioners of theatre design and technology." Every year, a conference is held to help students learn more, experience more, and prepare for jobs in the theatre design and technology field. At Fredonia, we meet weekly to prepare members for the conference experience, as well as hold our own workshops and events for additional learning opportunities. All who are interested in theatre design and technology are welcome in FUSITT!

National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA)

Membership in this Collegiate Program encourages students to explore dance education, pedagogy, choreography, performance, research, community outreach, and advocacy in the context of our broad dance program. It serves to stimulate a dialogue and networking between students, faculty, and experts in the field and promotes the use of standards in dance education curriculum and teaching methods.

Orchesis Dance Company

Orchesis is Fredonia's student run dance company. The organization puts on two major concerts a year- choreographed and performed by students. Orchesis also sponsors guests artists, workshops, master classes, and charity events throughout the school year. The company allows every student, regardless of experience a chance to create and express themselves through dance.

Performing Arts Company (PAC)

The Performing Arts Company is Fredonia's main theatrical performance club. PAC prides itself on creating art for students, by students. Each year PAC produced 4 main stage shows, an original student work, and also numerous workshops and masterclasses. Throughout the year our goal is to provide all of these opportunities to any students looking for further pursue their joy of theater.

Play On Words (POW)

Play On Words is a play-reading group in which members read weekly play on their own, and then we come together to discuss. Members read a play each on their own, take part in great conversations, and gain repertoire through the club. If you would like more information please follow our social media accounts and reach out to us.

Random Acts

Random Acts is an audition based comedy improv group! We incorporate short-form and long-form improv into bi-weekly shows. Our main goal is to make people happy, and do your best to harvest a love for improv on Campus! Come see us sometime.

Spontaneous Productions

Spontaneous Productions is a bi-annual event in which students create and perform original pieces of theatre within the time span of 24 hours. It is a great opportunity for young artists to hone their skills as a playwright, director, actor, technician, stage manager, or producer. In the same way it is a safe and supportive environment in which artists can also attempt to step into one of those roles that they have never tried before. It is also an event in which students from different areas of the department and academic years can come together and collaborate.
