School of Business NEXT: The Plan Ahead
I am pleased to share our newly developed School of Business Strategic Plan for 2023-2028: School of Business Next. The planning process began in late Spring 2023. A diverse constituency from our campus community: students, faculty, staff, alumni, administrators, and community partners were represented on the Strategic Planning Committee. The Committee participated in a series of meetings, retreats, and surveys to carefully craft a new pathway for the School of Business. Throughout this process, stakeholders were invited to contribute to the development of the goals and strategic initiatives of the School.
The current status of the business of higher education poses many challenges for us. Among these are a continuing decline in the number of high school graduates, shifting demographics in the Western New York region, decreasing State appropriations for higher education, increasing costs of higher education, and fewer international students. Additionally, the perceived value of higher education has been deteriorating over time. Our Strategic Plan is designed to develop pathways to overcome these challenges while achieving our goals over the next five years.
My sincere thanks to the Committee members for their dedicated work in developing this Strategic Plan for the School of Business. I look forward to collaborating with you to create a vibrant, inclusive, diversified, and impactful future.
Cordially,
Kaustav Misra
Dean, School of Business
