Welcome to the Fredonia School of Music!

Melvin UngerWelcome to the Fredonia School of Music, whose reputation for excellence and distinction continues to grow! With some 600 music students, the School is a genuine point of pride for a relatively small university that is nurturing and supportive—and the beautiful campus provides an ideal environment for musicians to focus on their art.

Fredonia's reputation is the result of a faculty dedicated to teaching—artist-teachers who have achieved a high level of accomplishment in performance, research, or creative endeavor and who are able to bring that experience into the classroom, the rehearsal and the studio. Students choose from a wide range of programs, including music education, performance, composition, music therapy, sound recording, music theory and composition.

Over 400 events are presented each year in the university’s performance venues, which include the state-of-the-art, 425-seat Juliet J. Rosch Recital Hall and the renowned 1145-seat Harry A. King Concert Hall, located in the university’s Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center, which Best College Reviews identifies as one of the 25 most Amazing College Theaters in the USA! Fredonia’s other facilities include 101 practice rooms (82 with pianos and most with windows), 2 piano labs, 2 computer labs, state-of-the-art sound recording technology studios, and the beautiful Robert and Marilyn Maytum Music Rehearsal Halls for large ensembles. Performance venues in the community include the restored 1891 Fredonia Opera House.

Fredonia’s illustrious list of alumni will tell you that choosing Fredonia is one of the best decisions you can make. Visit us and get to know us, and you’re likely to agree!
