Homecoming ʼ19 highlights at Fredonia
Homecoming 2019 will feature several events for honored classes, the Homecoming Dinner with the presentation of the Outstanding Achievement Award to three stellar alumni, wonderful music and theatre performances, and the fourth Mini Maker Faire.

Homecoming is slated for Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20.
New mural by drawing/painting students honors workers at Dunkirk steel plant
Spurred by the initial success of three large murals they painted a year ago at Dunkirk Specialty Steel, Erin Ruffino and Alisia Glasier, an alumna and current student enrolled in the Visual Arts and New Media program at Fredonia, returned to the metals producer last summer to undertake a more ambitious project.
Fredonia alumnus to give organ recital Friday at King Concert Hall
Roland E. Martin, who serves on the music faculty at the University at Buffalo and is a graduate of Fredonia, will return to campus to present an organ recital at King Concert Hall on Friday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m.
Alumni Golf Tournament
With an impressive score of 56, the foursome of Ken Drummond, Josh Harrington, Kevin Kaszuba and Rob McAfee, representing Comfort Pest Control, won the annual Fredonia Alumni Golf Tournament held on July 19 at Shorewood Country Club.
Commencement speaker and alumnus challenges the Class of 2019
As he addressed the Class of 2019 at Fredonia on May 18, Dr. Shaun C. Nelms felt commonality with the graduates sitting before him in Steele Hall. “You will be expected…to leave a lasting impression on the world,” Dr. Nelms said. “I understand this transition too well…as a proud graduate of the (Fredonia) Class of 1999.”
Urban educational pioneer, Fredonia graduate to deliver Commencement address
Dr. Shaun C. Nelms, superintendent of East High School, once a persistently failing school that has been reborn through an innovative partnership between the Rochester City School District and the University of Rochester, will deliver the 2019 Commencement address at Fredonia on Saturday, May 18.

A ceremony to dedicate a piano practice studio in honor of Christian “Chris” Granger, a 1966 graduate of the School of Music at the State University of New York at Fredonia, will be held in Mason Hall room 2106 on Friday, March 29, at 1:30 p.m.
