College Symphony Orchestra in King Concert Hall

Ensembles in Residence

The Fredonia Wind Quintet
A faculty ensemble in residence at the School of Music at the State University of New York at Fredonia, the Fredonia Woodwind Quintet tours of New York have taken them to all corners of the state, playing community concerts and giving educational performances and workshops. Established in 1950, the quintet’s performances have been described as “excellent – unforgettable – inspirational,” and have inspired a renaissance of woodwind chamber music programs in high schools and colleges.

Western New York Chamber Orchestra
Glen Cortese, Artistic Director and Conductor
The musicians in our orchestra bring an amazing range of talent, training and experience to King Concert Hall. Their backgrounds represent virtually every major school of music and conservatory in the country. Many former members of our orchestra are now in major symphony orchestras throughout the United States. These musicians’ love of music and of this orchestra brings them from all over Western New York and Pennsylvania to rehearse and perform together. Several of them often stay with friends of the orchestra during rehearsal weeks. This ensemble of outstanding players includes faculty at the Fredonia School of Music at Fredonia and professional musicians from the Buffalo, Rochester and Erie areas, and even further away.

Chautauqua Youth Chorus
The Chautauqua Youth Chorus (formerly called the Chautauqua Children’s Chorale) was formed in 1988, by Nancy A. Krestic and Dr. Donald P. Lang. It was formed with the mission to promote excellence in singing and musical growth, and give a different dimension to the choral experience for children. The Chorale is made up of three choirs of children ages 8 to 17: Preparatory Choir, Intermediate Choir and Concert Chorale. There are approximately 125 singers in Chorale. All three choirs perform a wide variety of music, including sacred, classical, secular choral music and contemporary music written specifically for unchanged voices and the concert stage. Periodically the Chorale has commissioned choral works written specifically for them.
