The Fredonia Leadership Institute (FLI, pronounced fly) offers leadership skills to any interested Fredonia student through a series of 1-hour workshops called FLIing Lessons.  FLI will officially take off in Fall 2026, so check back periodically for updates!

Description:  The newly created Fredonia Leadership Institute (FLI) is a series of free workshops designed to help students explore leadership and develop leadership skills.  Any Fredonia student is invited to participate.  At the kickoff event, you can meet new people, enjoy some snacks, and learn what FLI is all about!
 
Breakout Boxes
Date:  Tuesday, September 8, 2026

Description:  A Breakout Box is like an escape room but in reverse!  Instead of trying to escape from an enclosed space, we will work in teams against the clock to solve puzzles, open locks, and break into the box!
 
True Colors Personalities

Description:  This FLIing Lesson will offer insights into who you are through a personality assessment called True Colors.  Are you a spontaneous Orange or a compassionate Blue?  And how can you leverage your true colors to be your best self and the best leader?  Sign up to find out!
 
Task List Paralysis and Time Management

Description:  We have all been there.  The "this meeting could have been an e-mail" meeting.  During this FLIing Lesson, we will learn strategies for leading efficient -- and maybe even fun! -- meetings.
 
Budgeting and Spending

Description:  A budget is more than an expense spreadsheet.  Learn how to create a plan to use the money allocated to your team or organization smartly.  Some of the content of this FLIing Lesson might help you with your personal finances, too!
 
Conflict Resolution

Description:  Interpersonal conflict is stressful.  However, healthy organizations work through any conflicts that arise in healthy ways.  This interactive panel discussion will enable us to explore various means to approach and resolve conflict, and how we might be able to prevent conflict from happening before it starts.
 
Culture, Not Costumes: Unmasking Prejudice on Halloween
Date:  Thursday, October 29, 2026

Description:  Halloween is approaching, and that means candy, parties, and costumes!  This FLIing Lesson will offer insights about bias and prejudice that we can remember both before we put on our costumes and well after we eat the last of our Halloween candy.
 
Self-Care and Stress Relief
