Residence Life Student Recognition Programs
Established in 2003, the Student of the Month (SOM) Committee has been designed to recognize individual students for their achievements, both scholastic and co-curricular. The perennial plaques hung in the Office of Residence Life list the names of all SOM award winners from February 2003 to present. Student award recipients are honored with a certificate and invited to a luncheon in Cranston Marché. If you wish to nominate someone for Student of the Month, please fill out the nomination form.

Grace Breen named November 2018 RA of the Month
Grace Breen has been named “Resident Assistant of the Month” for the month of November. Grace is in her second semester as a resident assistant at Hemingway hall.
Her supervisor Jill Swanson would describe her as follows “Grace is never afraid to go the extra mile. She knows most if not all residents in the hall as well as their needs. She wants to make sure she is supporting her fellow staff members with any difficulties they may have and help all residents have the best experience possible. Grace is an educator even if it is unintentional and continuously wants to help others be better.”
Grace shared her knowledge and presented and the SUNY Brockport RA Conference to help educate other residence life staffs on the needs of residents in regards to dietary restrictions. Grace remains positive in even the toughest times and is an asset to the residence life team. Nominated by Jill Swanson
At present, Program of the Month nominations can be submitted in 3 distinct categories: CAPE program, social justice program, and community builder program based around the Resident Assistant Programming Model. Programs will be evaluated by the committee and winners will be chosen every month. RA's will be notified of appropriate dates for submissions as well as the criteria evaluated on.
