Nolan Ahearn of Henrietta, NY, has been named Student of the Month for November by Residence Life. Nolan was nominated for this award by Kate Huff, Assistant Director of Admissions and Patrick Toscano, Residence Director of UC/Greg, because he is “my go-to staff member for tough issues within our community, and never bats an eye when asked to go above and beyond.”
Nolan, a Social Work major with Minors in Leadership Studies and Sociology works as a Resident Assistant and as a Tour guide in the Admissions Office. Kate states that Nolan interacts with prospective students on weekly basis and also serves as a mentor to his peers in the tour guide program. Nolan carries a 3.67 GPA while he juggles both jobs, and internship and field placement in his Social Work major. He is thoughtful, hardworking and displays the highest degree of professionalism. He plays an integral role in the success and continued growth of the tour guide program – an essential component of the strategic recruitment plan.
When asked his favorite things about Fredonia, Nolan stated “My favorite thing about Fredonia is the family. Through my three and a half years at Fredonia, I have met so many people who are beyond friends and coworkers, but actual family. I feel comfortable here because everyone makes it so easy to love being at this university.” Nolan’s goals after graduation in May is to go straight into a masters program, where he hope to achieve his MSW. He aspires to work in the school system somehow, whether that is as an elementary school social worker, or working in a counseling role on a college campus.
