Fredonia has a strong tradition of guiding students to their vision of professional success. Fredonia's programs are driven by practical relevance and strong outcomes for its graduates.

Applications are open for the Fall and Spring 2024 semesters. We will begin review of applications in October. 

Fredonia is looking for students who are not only strong academically, but have the drive and determination to make their dream of a college degree a reality.  Applicants are evaluated on an rolling basis.

  • High school average: 85-95%

Students who show unique talents and interests, including those who possess leadership qualities through extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and other non-academic pursuits will receive special consideration.

Educational Opportunity Program

The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), is an academic support services program for underprepared and financially disadvantaged students. EOP strives to serve the needs of those students who are capable of collegiate study but need assistance in developing their unexplored abilities. Students benefit from advising and financial support services as participants in this program.

3-1-3 Early College Admit Program

The 3-1-3 Program allows local high school seniors take college courses here at Fredonia. Students apply for the program through the SUNY Application. Once a student enrolls, they are considered to be Fredonia college students and do not need to reapply to continue at Fredonia upon graduation from high school, provided they are in good academic standing.

Important Admissions Dates & Deadlines

  • August 1, 2023 - Applications open for Spring/Fall 2024
  • December 2023 - FAFSA application opens for all Spring/Fall 2024 applicants
  • December 1, 2023 - Spring 2024 Preferred Tuition Deposit Deadline
  • June 1, 2024 - Fall 2024 Tuition and Scholarship Guarantee Deposit Deadline

Fredonia believes in a rolling admissions process. In other words, we respond to your application when we receive it, so you’ll know your status soon after you apply, instead of waiting until after an imposed deadline. Notifications begin in October for the following fall.

  • Online application for the following fall: recommend by Thanksgiving
  • December: FAFSA becomes available
  • Honors program: apply by mid February for the upcoming fall semester
  • December 1: pay deposit for upcoming spring semester.
  • June 1: pay deposit for upcoming fall semester

*Acting and musical theatre have pre-screening deadlines

Steps to apply for financial aid

  • Get a FSA ID and Password. A FSA ID and Password lets you apply, “sign” your online FAFSA, make corrections to your application information and more.
  • Collect the documents, including income tax returns, W-2 forms, and other records of income to apply. 
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible, once available, in order to meet school and state aid deadlines. Fredonia’s school code is 002844.
  • If you are a New York State resident, please complete and submit the TAP application

The easiest, fastest and most secure way to apply is online; paper applications are also available. Fredonia accepts The Common Application and the SUNY Application. Choose one or the other, but please do not submit both applications. If you need assistance applying online, you may download a paper worksheet for the SUNY Application.

There is a $50 application fee. For information on fee waivers please contact your high school guidance counselor or the application processing center. Please follow these steps to complete your application to Fredonia.

Transfer applicants

  • Completed application (SUNY Application or Common Application)
  • Official Transcripts from ALL colleges you have attended
  • Students with fewer than 30 credit hours are required to submit a high school transcript. 
  • For 2nd Baccalaureate students, please notify admissions, at admissions@fredonia.edu, to let us know you have applied and already have a bachelors degree.
  • All transfer students are required to submit proof of high school graduation. An official high school transcript, copy of diploma, or GED certificate are appropriate.
